Basic beanie pattern
The basic beanie pattern could be used to make different animal beanies.
It is a free crochet pattern
Materials:
acrylic yarn 3-4mm
crochet hook size 4mm
tapestry needle
Terms:
MR Magic Ring
sc single crochet
inc increase
dec decrease
dc double crochet
sl.st. slip stitch
ch chain
* * repeat
Crochet the hat base in rounds. One round begins always with ch2 (chain two) and ends with a slip stitch.
The ears will be done in rows. After ending a row turn and begin with ch3. The first stitch will be skiped (you should alway begin in the second stitch). The last one comes into the top of the chain three of the last row.
To define the place of the first stitch of the second ear you have fold the hat in half at the end of the first ear (so that the first ear ist complately on back side).
Now you count back 3 stitches on the other end, and this will be your starting point.

Ear one:

14. 7dc, dec
15. 2dc, dec, dc, dec
16. dec, dec
17. ch2, sl.st., fasten off
Ear two:
follow the steps above to define the starting point
repate the rows 13 - 17
The finished beanie is about 15cm wide and 12,5 cm high.
To make the outline of the ears prettier you should crochet them around.
Count two stitches back from the starting stitch of the ear. Make one chain in this stitch, than a hdc in the next.
Continue with single crochet along the side of the ear.
The first one goes into the the top of first dc, than one sc in the side of a dc, the next one in the hole between two dc-s.
There are a total of 7 single crochets until you reach the top.
Make 3 sc in the top, in the ch2 space, than continue on the other side in the same way as before. The last sc comes in the side of the last dc (in total of 8 sc), than make a hdc in the first stitch after the ear.
Instead of finishing with sl.st make an invisible ending as follows:
1. after the last stitch cut off the yarn and pull through
2. with the tapestry needle go under the next stitch as you would normaly do with the hook and pull trough
3. go back where your yarn originally comes from and pull the yarn in the same spot
4. now you can stitch up your yarn and wave in the ends

It is a free crochet pattern
Materials:
acrylic yarn 3-4mm
crochet hook size 4mm
tapestry needle
Terms:
MR Magic Ring
sc single crochet
inc increase
dec decrease
dc double crochet
sl.st. slip stitch
ch chain
* * repeat

Ear two:

repate the rows 13 - 17

Crochet Hat / Beanie Size Chart
Avarage crochet beanie sizes based on age, so the actual size can slightly differ. Please measure the head for the exact size.
For perfect beanies you should use acrilyc yarn, becaues it is more flexible than cotton. By sizeing the beanie the elasticity of the yarn must be taken into account. Also the beanie circumference is about 5 cm less than the head circumference.
